  • Eastern District of Kentucky (859) 233-2661

LONDON, KY—The United States Attorney’s Office and the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office jointly announced today that Jimmie Darrell Gay, 62, of Hazard, Ky. pleaded guilty yesterday to Receipt of Child Pornography.

In the course of his guilty plea, Gay admitted that from October 13, 2008, and continuing through January 28, 2009, he received volumes of visual depictions of child pornography through e-mails and the Internet at his home in Perry County. Gay also admitted that he knew the images depicted minors. Gay was indicted in June of 2009.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the Kentucky Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit. The United States was represented in the case by Assistant United States Attorneys Jason A. Denney and Lindsay E. Hughes.

Gay is currently scheduled to appear for sentencing before United States District Court Judge Gregory F. VanTatenhove in London, Ky. on March 4, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. Gay faces a maximum prison sentence of 20 years. However, any sentence following conviction would be imposed by the court after consideration of the United States Sentencing Guidelines and the federal statute governing the imposition of sentences.
