Washington County Man Indicted for Soliciting Murder

LOUISVILLE, KY—A federal grand jury in Louisville returned an indictment against Ryan Lynn Dean, age 20, of Mackville, Kentucky, in Washington County, on charges of soliciting a murder for hire, United States Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.
The Indictment alleges that in June 2009, Dean solicited a murder and used a means of interstate commerce to solicit a murder, and that Dean promised to pay ten (10) pounds of marijuana in return for the murder.
In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are 30 years’ imprisonment, a $500,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of five years.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Weiser, and it was investigated by the Kentucky State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Dean is scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on November 17, 2009, at 9:30 a.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.
