FBI Investigating Hoax Letters Purportedly Containing a Hazardous Substance

Timothy D. Cox, Special Agent in Charge of the Kentucky Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), advised today that what appears to be hoax letters purportedly containing a hazardous substance have been received by numerous public officials throughout the state of Kentucky. Initial field tests indicate that the letters do not contain any hazardous substance, however, the letters are being forwarded to the Kentucky State Crime Lab for further testing.  The FBI is continuing its investigation into this matter.
