Suspect Linked to “Green Tattoo” Bank Robberies Sought

FBI Los Angeles October 08, 2010

A man linked to at least two bank robberies is being sought after allegedly robbing the same bank he’s believed to have robbed three years ago. The unidentified man is known as the “Green Tattoo Bandit” because witnesses have described the suspect as having green/reddish tattoos on the back of his neck.

The most recent robbery occurred on September 9 at a Bank of America at 3141 West Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta. During the robbery, the Green Tattoo Bandit entered the bank carrying a manila envelope from which he removed a demand note. The note, which he presented to the victim teller, threatened violence if the teller did not comply with his demands. Written on the demand note were instructions and, in large print, the words, “I will shoot you,” according to the victim teller. The suspect then fled on foot.

After initial review of the modus operandi and the photos, investigators linked the bank robber to a suspect believed to have robbed the same Bank of America branch on November 28, 2007. During that robbery, a man meeting a similar description used a manila envelope, a similar demand note and threatened a weapon. The Green Tattoo Bandit is further described as an Hispanic or Caucasian male, approximately 35 years old, 6’ tall, 200 pounds with an athletic build, black short hair, and a light complexion.

Bank surveillance photographs are also being distributed publicly. Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the Green Tattoo Bandit is urged to contact the FBI or dial 911. The FBI in the Los Angeles area can be reached 24 hours a day at 310 477-6565 or toll free at 888 CANT HIDE (888 226-8443).
