FBI Seeks Information Regarding Downed Cabot Power Line

FBI Little Rock August 21, 2013
  • Special Agent Kimberly Brunell (501) 228-8403

LITTLE ROCK—Randall C. Coleman, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for the state of Arkansas, announced that the FBI is seeking information related to the following incident:

On Wednesday, August 21, 2013, officials with Entergy Arkansas reported a downed high-voltage transmission line on Arkansas Highway 321 east of Cabot, Arkansas, where Highway 321 crosses a Union Pacific railroad track. As a result, a section of Highway 321 from Kerr Station Road to Lakewood Subdivision was closed to traffic. No power outages were reported.

Inspection of the line indicated that it was intentionally cut. It is believed that the person(s) responsible climbed the 100-foot tower, severed the line with a saw or similar object, and removed several bolts at the base of the tower. Although no injuries resulted from this incident, this act created a potential danger to the community.

The FBI, Cabot Police Department, and Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office are investigating this incident and are seeking assistance from local members of the community.

We are asking for anyone who may have any information that might be related to this matter to contact us at FBI’s Little Rock Field Office at (501) 221-9100 or Little.Rock@ic.fbi.gov.
