MICHAEL
R. FEDARCYK
Michael
R. Fedarcyk is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. He
is a graduate of Loyola College, Baltimore, with a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy. He received
his law degree from the University of Baltimore, School
of Law, and was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1979.
His prior work experience included an appointment as
an Assistant State's Attorney for Baltimore City from
1979 through 1983.
Mr.
Fedarcyk entered on duty with the FBI in October, 1983.
He has served in Baltimore, New Orleans, Washington
Field Office (WFO), and FBI Headquarters (FBIHQ). While
in the
New Orleans Division, he was assigned to the Public Corruption Squad and was
involved in several noteworthy investigations of various public officials.
In 1987, Mr. Fedarcyk was assigned to WFO where he worked foreign counterintelligence
investigations and drug task force operations.
In
1991, Mr. Fedarcyk was promoted to Supervisory Special
Agent (SSA), National Security Law Unit (NSLU), National
Security Division, FBIHQ; and then in 1995, was promoted
to be the Unit Chief, NSLU, Office of General Counsel.
The NSLU provided legal counsel to all facets of national
security investigations. In January, 1997, he was designated
SSA of the Baltimore Division with responsibility of
the National Foreign Intelligence Program and the National
Infrastructure Protection and Computer Intrusion Program.
In June, 2000, Mr. Fedarcyk was promoted to Assistant
Special Agent in Charge of the
San Francisco Division.
In
December, 2002, Mr. Fedarcyk was promoted to the Senior
Executive Service to serve as the first Section Chief,
Communication Exploitation Section, Counterterrorism
Division. In April, 2004, Mr. Fedarcyk was selected
as the Special Assistant to the Executive Assistant
Director for Counterterrorism and Counterintelligence;
and, in October, 2004, was selected as a Special Assistant
to the Deputy Director, In his role as Special Assistant,
Mr. Fedarcyk is responsible for the Deputy Director's
Planning Office, which oversees strategic and resource
planning for the FBI.
