Kenneth Moore Named Special Agent in Charge of FBI Knoxville Division

Director Robert S. Mueller, III has named Kenneth L. Moore special agent in charge of the FBI’s Knoxville Division. Mr. Moore most recently served as chief inspector in the FBI’s Inspection Division at FBI Headquarters since April 2011.

Mr. Moore began his career as an FBI agent in August 1987. His first assignment was to the Little Rock Division, after which he was transferred to the Detroit Division in February 1992. He investigated foreign counterintelligence matters until 1994, when he was designated the division’s civil rights coordinator. During this time, he was responsible for investigating all civil rights cases in the Detroit metropolitan area, including the first housing discrimination case to be prosecuted in the Eastern District of Michigan.

In July 1997, Mr. Moore was promoted to the Hate Crimes Unit at FBI Headquarters, where he served as supervisory special agent. He provided valuable program management oversight for numerous FBI investigations throughout the United States. Areas of particular focus were hate crimes, discrimination in housing, human trafficking, and violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. Mr. Moore also represented the FBI on several national-level, multi-agency task forces.

In November 2000, Mr. Moore was promoted to supervisory senior resident agent of the Jackson Resident Agency, Memphis Division. His office was responsible for conducting investigations within all investigative programs throughout 19 counties in Western Tennessee. While in this role, Mr. Moore supervised many complex investigations, including a significant domestic terrorism investigation, a number of white-collar crime matters, and the dismantlement of several drug trafficking organizations in the region.

From January 2005 until September 2009, Mr. Moore served as an assistant special agent in charge of the Charlotte Division. While in this role, he led the intelligence program and managed all investigations within the counterterrorism and counterintelligence programs. Mr. Moore oversaw the investigations of several significant international terrorism and counterintelligence cases. He was also selected to serve as on-scene commander for FBI operations in Afghanistan, where he was responsible for all deployed FBI personnel and assets.

In September 2009, Mr. Moore was promoted into the FBI’s Senior Executive Service as an inspector in the Office of Inspections, Inspection Division.

Mr. Moore is a native of Macon, Georgia. Prior to his FBI career, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia.
