The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Chief Sterling Owen IV of the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) announce the arrest of Benjamin Gary Morgan on state bank robbery charges related to the robbery of the Enrichment Federal Credit Union located at 5201 Schubert Road in Knoxville on, March 3, 2011. At approximately 5:15 this evening, Benjamin Gary Morgan, age 36, of Knoxville, Tennessee, was arrested at the intersection of Tillery Road and Nichols Drive, without incident, by members of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force (which consists of personnel from the FBI, KPD, and KCSO) and the KPD.

At approximately 4:40 this evening, the suspect entered the Enrichment Federal Credit Union in Knoxville, Tennessee, and verbally demanded money. After obtaining an undetermined amount of money, the suspect left the bank and was observed by a conscientious citizen who reported the suspect departed the area in a white pickup truck. Subsequent to an interview of the citizen by law enforcement officials, a description of the suspect vehicle was broadcast over police radios. Following the broadcast, assiduous KPD Motor Officer Ron Trentham recognized the suspect vehicle had been involved in an accident at the intersection of Tillery Road and Nichols Drive.

This matter is being investigated jointly by the FBI SSTF and KPD Major Crimes Unit.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
