Searching for Man Who Robbed Suntrust Bank Branch in Knoxville

The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Chief Sterling Owen IV of the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect who robbed a Knoxville bank today.

At approximately 1:20 p.m., the suspect entered the Suntrust Bank inside the Wal-Mart located at 3051 Kinzel Way in Knoxville and displayed a note threatening a gun and demanding money. Witnesses described the suspect as a white male with a thin build, weighing approximately 130 to 140 pounds, between 20 and 25 years old, approximately 5’6” tall, with light brown or blond hair. The suspect was further described as wearing a gray or tan baseball cap, dark-colored shorts, and a gray, zip-up-style hoodie. After obtaining an undetermined amount of money, the suspect left the scene on foot.

A reward is being offered for any information which leads to the arrest of this individual. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 865-544-0751 or the KPD at 865-215-7212. This matter is being investigated jointly by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force (which consists of personnel from the FBI, KPD, and KCSO) and the KPD Major Crimes Unit.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
