FBI Knoxville June 01, 2010
  • Public Affairs Specialist Joyce McCants (865) 544-0751

The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Sheriff Jimmy “J.J.” Jones of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the man who robbed the Peoples Bank today.

At approximately 10:12 a.m., the suspect entered the Peoples Bank located at 100 West Emory Road in Knoxville and verbally demanded money. Witnesses described the suspect as a white male with a medium complexion, approximately 25 to 30 years old, between 5’8” and 5’10” tall, approximately 160 to 180 pounds. The suspect was wearing a black, long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, dark colored shoes, and a black baseball cap. The suspect also wore a black bandana to cover his mouth and nose.

After obtaining an undetermined amount of money, the suspect left the scene in what witnesses described as a late 1980s to early 1990s faded red S-10 single-cab pickup truck. A reward is being offered for any information which leads to the arrest of this individual. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 865-544-0751 or the KCSO at 865-215-2243. This matter is being investigated jointly by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force (which consists of personnel from the FBI, KPD, and KCSO), and the KCSO Major Crimes Unit.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
