FBI, KPD, and KCSO, as Part of the Safe Streets Task Force, Announce the Arrest of Larry Murray

The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Sheriff Jimmy “J.J.” Jones of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) and Sterling Owen IV of the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) announce the arrest of Larry Murray on bank robbery charges related to the robbery of multiple banks in the Knoxville area.
At approximately 6:30 tonight, Larry Murray, age 32, of Halls, Tennessee, was arrested at the intersection of Thompson School Road and East Emory Road, without incident, by members of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force (SSTF), KPD, and KCSO. Murray is facing Federal charges for Bank Robbery as well as Federal Hobbs Act charges. He is suspected of robbing the BB&T Bank located at 707 E. Emory Road in Knoxville. Murray is also the suspect in today’s robberies of the Fifth Third Bank located at 5221 Broadway, and the Merita Bread Outlet Store located at 6970 Maynardville Highway.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
