Chief Sterling P. Owen, IV of the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) and the Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the man who robbed a Knoxville bank today.

At approximately 11:10 this morning, a man entered the Regions Bank located at 2901 Essary Road, in Knoxville, Tennessee. After presenting the teller with a demand note and threatening to possess hand grenades, the suspect obtained an undetermined amount of money and fled the scene on foot.

Witnesses described the suspect as a white male, in his late teens to early 20s with no facial hair and a fair complexion, approximately 5’9” tall, thin build, and weighing between 120 and 150 pounds. The suspect was wearing a dirty, off-white baseball cap, large dark sunglasses, a red shirt, khaki or gray 3/4 length cargo-type shorts, and white tennis shoes with black markings.

A reward is being offered for information which leads to the arrest of this individual. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 865-544-0751 or the Knoxville Police Department at 865-215-7212.

This matter is being investigated by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force (SSTF) and the KPD Major Crimes Unit.
