Photograph of DragoHi. My name is Drago and I'm a search and rescue dog trained to find missing people. If I look a bit different to you, that is because I'm a Dutch Shepherd, a rare breed in the United States. My mom and dad were both imported from Holland and both work as police dogs. I'm really fast and need to stay very busy all the time. My favorite game is to hunt for things. That's what makes me such a great search dog.

I live and work with a Special Agent, Sonja, in Los Angeles, CA. I came to live with Sonja when I was only 7 months old. Almost all of our training is with police dogs. When I find someone who is lost, I am trained to lay down and bark to let Sonja know where they are. Since I only find nice people, kids like you who get lost, I don't need to bite anyone like the police dogs who find dangerous criminals.

I am Sonja's third search and rescue dog. My predecessor, Nikko, assisted the FBI and local law enforcement agencies on many investigations including helping find people at the Pentagon after the 9/11 terrorist attack (I wasn't even born when that happened). On 8/5/2002, Nikko died in a tragic accident while on duty for the FBI. Sonja was very sad but I'm here with her now to fill Nikko's big paws by serving the FBI and other law enforcement agencies as a valuable tool to help find missing people. I love working for the FBI, side by side with my Special Agent partner. It's the best life a working dog can have.
