Photograph of AtwoodHi! My name is Atwood and I am a black Labrador Retriever. I make up one-fourth of the team of K-9 Explosive Detectors at FBI Headquarters (FBIHQ).

Michael is my handler, trainer, and best friend. We started working together in 2000—we're a great team! Before we reported for duty at FBIHQ, Michael and I spent 10 weeks training
at the federal Canine Training Center in Front Royal, Virginia. The training was tough, so I was really proud when we graduated and got our training diploma. Can you believe I learned to detect 19,000 different components that make up explosives?!

I really love working for the FBI because I get to meet a lot of really nice people. When I detect something (like a bomb component), Michael gives me treats. We train every day so that I can be the best that I can be. I like training because the more I train, the more treats I get!Photograph of Atwood

At the end of the day I go home and play with Taz, my "sister," who is a Beagle-Terrier mix. I also like to play with my human "brothers"—Michael's sons. I really like kids!

While at FBIHQ, if I'm not training or working, you might find me resting on the ramp to the FBIHQ parking garage or hanging out in my cool police car. You may also see me playing with my best dog friend, Power. He's the youngest K-9 Explosive Detector at FBIHQ and he's a lot of fun. So if you come by FBIHQ and see that we're not busy, stop by and give us a pat or two. We'd love to meet you!
