Wichita Man Charged in Carson Bank Robbery

WICHITA, KS—Quinton C. Thomas, 24, Wichita, Kansas, is charged with one count of bank robbery and one count of brandishing a firearm during a robbery, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today.
A criminal complaint filed today in U.S. District Court in Wichita alleges Thomas robbed the Carson Bank at 4641 E. Douglas in Wichita. At about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, two robbers entered the bank. One of the robbers brandished a handgun and demanded entry to vault. One of the robbers had a slender build and was wearing a red face covering. The other was heavier and wore mirrored sunglasses. They fled the bank in a light-colored sedan.
A Kansas Department of Corrections officer viewed video surveillance recordings of the robbery and identified Thomas as the heavier robber.
If convicted, Thomas faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000 on the bank robbery charge, and a penalty of not less than seven years and a fine up to $250,000 on the firearms charge. The Wichita Police Department and the FBI investigated. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron Smith is prosecuting.
In all cases, defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The indictments merely contain allegations of criminal conduct.
