Jefferson City Woman Sentenced for Credit Union Robbery

JEFFERSON CITY, MO—Matt J. Whitworth, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced today that a Jefferson City, Mo., woman has been sentenced in federal court for robbing the River Region Credit Union last year.

Amanda Danielle Messer, 24, of Jefferson City, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Scott O. Wright on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, to three years and one month in federal prison without parole.

On Sept. 18, 2008, Messer pleaded guilty to stealing $13,100 from River Region Credit Union in Jefferson City during a robbery that occurred on Aug. 6, 2008. Messer was arrested by a Jefferson City police officer following a vehicle pursuit shortly after fleeing the scene.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lawrence E. Miller. It was investigated by the Jefferson City, Mo., Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
