Tallahassee Man Indicted for Bank Robbery by Threatened Use of Explosives

TALLAHASSEE, FL—Mark Daniel Fomenko, 56, of Tallahassee, was indicted by a federal grand jury today on charges of bank robbery, announced United States Attorney Pamela C. Marsh, Northern District of Florida.
The indictment alleges that on November 24, 2010, Fomenko robbed Premier Bank located at 3110 Capital Circle NE, Tallahassee, Florida, taking $25,925 in United States currency, and that in committing the robbery, he assaulted and placed in jeopardy the life of another person using a purported explosive device. Upon exiting the bank with the stolen currency, Fomenko was immediately taken into custody by Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) officers on scene. Upon conviction, Fomenko faces up to 25 years’ imprisonment and a $250,000.00 fine for robbery of a federally insured bank.
U.S. Attorney Marsh praised the work of the Tallahassee Resident Office of the FBI, TPD, and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, whose joint investigation led to the indictment in the case. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric K. Mountin.
An indictment is merely a formal charge by the grand jury. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
