Long Beach Man Sentenced for Theft from CB Base

GULFPORT, MS—Joseph Daniel Carden, age 61, of Long Beach, was sentenced to three years’ probation by Judge Louis Guirola, Jr., in United States District Court today, U.S. Attorney John Dowdy announced.

Carden entered a guilty plea to theft of government property on August 25, 2011. Carden was also ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and restitution of $4,827.22 to the Naval Construction Battalion Center. Carden was a civilian subcontractor at the auto body repair facility of the Construction Equipment Division where he stole tools belonging to the Navy.

The case was investigated by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
