FORT WAYNE, IN—The United States Attorney’s Office announced the following:

Jermaine Cooper, 39, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was sentenced by Judge Theresa Springmann to 265 months’ imprisonment and four years of supervised release after being found guilty at trial on counts 1ss, 3ss, 4ss, 5ss, 7ss, and 8ss of an indictment charging him with distribution of crack cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and obstructing justice. This case was the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Fort Wayne Police Department. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tina Nommay.

Yohansen Fincher, 25, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, pled guilty before Magistrate Judge Roger Cosbey to count four of an indictment charging him with use of a communication facility for possession with the intent to distribute cocaine. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Indiana State Police, the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Police Department, the Allen County Drug Task Force and the New Haven Police Department. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anthony Geller.

Albert Smith, 39, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, pled guilty before Magistrate Judge Roger Cosbey to count two of an indictment charging him with use of a communication facility to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Fort Wayne Safe Streets Task Force. A number of law enforcement agencies also assisted with this investigation, including the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Vice and Narcotics Division and Gang Unit; the Allen County Drug Task Force; the United States Marshals Service; the New Haven Police Department; the Orange County, California, Regional Narcotics Suppression Program; the San Bernardino County, California, Sheriff’s Department; and the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department Drug Interdiction Unit. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert Trgovich. Hammond South Bend Fort Wayne

The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
