FBI NATIONAL ACADEMY
QUARTERLY STATISTICS REPORT

With the graduation of 244 students from the 220th Session of the FBI National Academy (FBINA) on March 18, 2005, the grand total of graduates has reached 38,234. This total includes 2,504 international graduates and 331 graduates from U.S. territories and possessions, making a total of 2,835 students who have graduated from outside the United States.

A detailed review of graduates reflects the following:

3,467 deceased
10,069 retired
1,852 out of law enforcement
22,851 actively engaged in law enforcement

The following figures show those occupying the position of heads of their agencies:

5,366 are chiefs of police
560 are sheriffs
107 are heads of state police agencies
276 others hold positions as heads of their respective agencies

A total of 6,309 graduates occupy top executive positions of their agencies, or approximately one out of every five active-duty graduates hold the position of executive head of his/her agency.

International Officer Participants

International law enforcement officers began participation on an ad hoc basis in the 1930s. In 1962, however, at the specific request of President John F. Kennedy, the process was institutionalized. U.S. Territories and Possessions

There are a total of 331 graduates from American Samoa, Canal Zone, Guam, Puerto Rico, Federated States of Micronesia and the United States Virgin Islands.

U.S. States

There are a total of some 35,399 graduates from all 50 states of the union.

Female Participants

There are a total of 1,269 female graduates.
