Crisis Site Comms. & Technical Support

We live in a digital, high-tech age where technology continues to advance in leaps and bounds. This puts the Operational Technology Division (OTD) in a constant race to keep up—both to give us the latest and greatest investigative technologies to catch terrorists and criminals and to understand how they might be using these same technological tools. OTD’s technical agents, computer forensic examiners, electronics technicians, and telecommunications experts are up to the challenge, providing technical personnel in our field offices with the equipment and the training they need to trace e-mails, intercept phone calls, decipher encrypted messages, make sense of garbled voices on audio and fuzzy images on video, recover deleted files from hard drives, and a variety of other critical investigative steps. OTD serves many customers within the FBI, but we also assist our external partners in state and local law enforcement, international law enforcement, the U.S. Intelligence Community, and U.S. Attorneys Offices.
