Molecular Biologist, Temporary Foreign Assignment

Qualifications include the following:

• PhD with at least two years' postdoctoral experience in molecular biology, preferably in an industrial or forensic setting
• Laboratory experience equivalent to a PhD is acceptable
• In-depth knowledge of DNA extraction, PCR, STR typing, and DNA sequencing
• Experience with the ABI 377 and/or 3100/3700
• Ability to work in another culture
• Ability to teach and direct a team of technologists
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Ability to multitask
• Computer literate
• Management experience preferred

Responsibilities include the following:

• Teaching the technologists updated DNA extraction methods for bones recovered from mass graves
• Coordinating an STR database project between Kuwait and Genelex Corporation

The candidate would be assigned to the Kuwait Ministry of Interior DNA Crime Laboratory in Kuwait City for 3-4 months. Stateside training in specific required techniques will be provided prior to departure. Further assignment may involve mitochondrial DNA analysis from bone.
