Figure 8 displays the X-ray diffractograms of (a) a simulated lipstick stain on a cloth piece and (b) a control lipstick stain on a glass slide. An upward displacement of the peak at 21 degrees is due to the shouldering effect of the peak on the characteristic peak of the cotton fiber at 22.5 degrees.
