Maxfield Parrish

Two paintings by Maxfield Parrish were stolen during the burglary of a gallery in West Hollywood, California, between 4:30 p.m. July 28, 2002, and 7:30 a.m. on July 29, 2002. The paintings are two panels from a series of six panels which Maxfield Parrish painted for Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, one of America's greatest women art collectors. The paintings, completed by Parrish between 1912 and 1916, were commissioned for Mrs. Whitney's 5th Avenue mansion. The paintings were cut from their frames during the theft.
