Arbit Blatas

Approximately 200 works of art by Arbit Blatas were stolen from a Manhattan, New York, storage facility sometime between March of 1994 and January of 1995. The stolen works represent every period of Mr. Blatas' artistic career, including landscapes, still lifes, and portraits of well-known figures. The paintings are valued at over two million dollars.

Included in the theft was a series of paintings inspired by The Threepenny Opera, a play which Mr. Blatas had seen in Berlin. The following three paintings are from that series:
