Dali Salvador
Dali (1904-1989), a Spanish surrealist, was known for being a showman and flamboyant
eccentric in both his work and personal life. More specifically, Dali was famous
for his unique and hallucinogenic depiction of conflicting and intermingled images.
When viewed as a whole, each work toys with the viewer's perspective, often featuring
a combination of distorted figures, melding both human and animalistic characteristics,
presented in the midst of a dreamlike and chaotic environment. Consequently, specific
images within the work are difficult to identify when first viewing the piece.
The original
drawing below was composed by Dali as a study for a painting entitled "Woman
- Lion - Horse", created during the late 1960's or early 1970's. It was recently
stolen from a private owner in Great Bend, Kansas.
