Robbery of Amergy Bank Branch in Houston

FBI Houston March 28, 2013
  • Special Agent Shauna Dunlap (713) 936-7638

The FBI Bank Robbery Task Force needs the public’s help to identify the individual wearing an obviously fake beard who robbed an Amegy Bank earlier today. Bank surveillance photographs of the robber and his vehicle are at the conclusion of this press release.

At about 10:50 a.m., the bank robber entered the Amegy Bank located at 1330 Wirt Road in Houston, Texas, and approached a teller. He verbally threatened he had a weapon and demanded cash. He also showed the teller a threatening note. The bank robber then held open a plastic bag for the teller to put the cash. The teller put some cash in the bag. The robber quickly fled the bank and got into a turquoise Chevrolet Suburban, likely an older model from 1998-2000. The bank robber was last seen driving in that vehicle heading south on Wirt Road and then east on Interstate 10. No weapon was ever seen during the robbery. No one was physically hurt.

The bank robber is described as a Middle Eastern male, 25-30 years old, 5’6”-5’7” tall, approximately 160 pounds with a medium build. He had brown eyes and a birthmark or scar on his upper left cheek. He wore a dark blue jogging suit with a hood and a white bandana covering the top of his head and what appeared to be an inexpensive fake beard.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000.00 for information leading to the charging and arrest of this robber. If you have information about this case, please call the Crime Stoppers tip line at 713-222-TIPS (8477) or the Houston FBI office at 713-693-5000.
