“Grandad Bandit” Returns to Houston and Strikes Again
The Serial Bank Robber is Now Suspected in 23 Robberies in 12 States

The FBI Bank Robbery Task Force needs your help in identifying a man who is now suspected of robbing at least 23 banks in 12 different states. The latest robbery occurred at the Wachovia Bank located at 6801 Buffalo Speedway in Houston, Texas on July 3, 2010.

At approximately 10:45 a.m., the man entered the bank and approached a teller. He opened a black bank bag, pulled out a note, and handed it to the teller. The note demanded a specified amount of cash and indicated the teller had 30 seconds to comply. The teller provided the robber with some cash, which he placed inside the black bank bag. He was last seen walking east on West Holcombe in Houston, Texas. No one was physically hurt during the robbery. The bank’s surveillance cameras captured several photographs of the man during the robbery.

He is described as a white male, early 50s, approximately 6’1” tall, 220 pounds, wearing prescription glasses, a blue Polo-type shirt, and khaki pants. He was balding on the top of his head, with light brown and grey hair on the sides.

He is also suspected in bank robberies on the below listed dates in the below listed cities:

02/24/10 Huntsville, Alabama

The other Houston robbery occurred at the Allegiance Bank, located at 222 North Durham Drive.

Today, Clear Channel Outdoor will begin featuring a digital billboard of the “Grandad Bandit.” The digital billboard is located on Highway 59, The Eastex Freeway, south of 1960.

America’s Most Wanted also featured the “Grandad Bandit” on its website in November 2009.

The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward, and Crime Stoppers of Houston is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the charging and arrest of this robber, or any felony suspect. If you have information about this crime, please call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
