The Houston FBI Bank Robbery Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man who threatened to detonate an explosive device as he robbed the Wachovia Bank at 4510 Kingwood Drive yesterday afternoon.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., a lone white male entered the bank and approached a teller station. He pulled what was described by witnesses as a hand grenade or a smoke bomb from his pocket and demanded all of the teller’s large bills. He then placed his finger into the ring of the pin as if to pull it, and said “I’m not playing.” He grabbed the cash and fled the bank on foot. No one was physically injured.

The robber is described as a white, possibly Hispanic, male, 35 to 45 years old, 5’5” to 5’7” tall, stocky build, black hair, light complexion. He was wearing a dark colored jacket.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000.00 for information leading to the charging and arrest of this robber or any felony suspect. If this suspect looks familiar to you, or if you have information about this crime, please call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
