“Sweatin’ to the Oldies” Robber Tries to Shed Pounds While Robbing Two Area Banks at Gunpoint

The FBI Houston Bank Robbery Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a bank robber who donned headphones and a silver sweat-inducing exercise suit to rob two area banks at gunpoint last Friday.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., the robber entered the Wachovia Bank at 5650 Memorial Drive and approached the tellers. He pulled out a black and silver semi-automatic pistol and threatened to kill someone if he didn’t get some money. He threw a blue bag onto the counter, and kept his weapon pointed at the tellers until they placed some cash into the bag. 

Less than an hour later, at 12:15 p.m., the robber entered the Bank of America at 1550 W. Bay Area Boulevard. He drew the same black and silver semi-automatic weapon, and threatened to start shooting if tellers did not hand over the cash. This time, he threw a black bag onto the counter and threatened the tellers with his weapon as they placed cash into the bag. He was seen leaving the area in a white Dodge pickup truck, which may have been occupied by an accomplice.

Witnesses to the robberies describe the “Sweatin’ to the Oldies” robber as a white or Hispanic male, 5’08” to 5’10” tall, 250 pounds, heavy set build, with light complexion, black or brown hair with receding hairline. He was wearing sunglasses and a silver sweat-inducing exercise suit. In the first robbery, he was wearing headphones. Some witnesses report that he may have spoken English with an accent.
