FBI Needs Public’s Help to Identify Serial Bank Robber

FBI Houston March 19, 2009
  • Special Agent Shauna Dunlap (713) 936-7638

The FBI Houston Bank Robbery Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man who has robbed at least two Houston area banks within the past month. The latest robbery occurred at the J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, located at 9130 North Freeway in Houston, Texas, earlier today.

At approximately 11:50 a.m., the man entered the bank, approached a teller, and handed her a deposit slip. The deposit slip contained a hand written note from the robber which demanded money and threatened he had a gun. Fearing for her life, the teller opened her drawer and handed the cash to the robber. The robber placed the money inside a pink and gray paper bag he brought into the bank. He then turned and quickly fled the bank. During the entire robbery, the robber was holding a cell phone to his ear. No one was physically hurt during the robbery.

The robber is described as a black male, 25-30 years old, 5’10” to 5’11” tall, 200-210 pounds, with a dark complexion. He had black hair in a short afro style. He wore a plaid shirt and blue jeans. During a previous robbery, witnesses observed a unique tattoo on the back of his neck which possibly read “diesel.”

This same individual is suspected in at least one other Houston area bank robbery, the robbery of the Capital One Bank, located at 8401 Westheimer in Houston, Texas, on 03/09/2009. During this robbery, the robber exited the bank and was observed getting into a small, black vehicle driven by a female accomplice.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000.00 for information leading to the charging and arrest of this robber. If you have information regarding this case, contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477) or the Houston office of the FBI at 713-693-5000.
