FBI Houston February 04, 2009
  • Special Agent Shauna Dunlap (713) 936-7638

The FBI Houston Bank Robbery Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the man who has been nick-named the “Reckless Robber,” for his aggressive and reckless tactics used during at least six recent Houston area bank robberies. The latest occurred this morning at the Wells Fargo Bank, address 8012 North Sam Houston Parkway in Humble, Texas.

At approximately 11:05 a.m. this morning, the “Reckless Robber” entered the bank and immediately racked a round into the chamber of the black, semi-automatic pistol he was carrying. He grabbed a bank employee by the hair, placed a gun to the back of her head and forced her to the teller counter. Next, he threw a black bag on top of the counter and demanded all tellers place their money into his bag. He threatened to shoot them if they called police or activated any alarms. He threatened to shoot the tellers one last time before exiting the bank on foot.

The “Reckless Robber” is described as a white male, 35-40 years old, 5’10”-5’11”, 200-230 pounds, with an olive complexion. During this robbery, he was bald on top, with hair on the sides. Investigators caution that he may be disguising his hair and/or hairline prior to committing the robberies. During today’s robbery, he wore a brown jogging suit with a white stripe on the front of the jacket. He was armed with a black semi-automatic weapon.

The “Reckless Robber is also suspected in the robbery of the Wachovia Bank, address 5650 Memorial in Houston, Texas on 10/21/2008; the robbery of the Bank of America, address 13250 Grant in Houston, Texas on 11/19/2008; the robbery of the Comerica Bank, address 6412 San Felipe in Houston Texas on 12/20/2008; the robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank, address 5000 Louetta in Spring, Texas on 12/30/2008; and the robbery of the Wachovia Bank, address 235 W. 20 th in Houston, Texas on 01/21/2009. The “Reckless Robber” should be considered armed and dangerous.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000.00 for information leading to the charging and arrest of the “Reckless Robber.” If you have information about this case, please call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 713-222-TIPS (8477) of the Houston office of the FBI at 713-693-5000.
