United States Attorney Robert Pitman announces that in Midland, 42-year-old Mark David Willmann faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a maximum $250,000 fine after pleading guilty to robbing a Midland branch of Bank of America in February of this year.

Appearing before United States Magistrate Judge Dwight Goains this afternoon, Willman pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery. By pleading guilty, Willman admitted that he walked into the bank located at 4309 North Garfield, approached a teller, and handed her a note demanding money and claiming he had a gun. Willman fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Within a couple of hours of the robbery, FBI agents arrested Willmann at an Odessa motel and recovered the stolen cash.

Willmann remains in federal custody. No sentencing date has been set.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation together with the Midland and Odessa Police Departments. Assistant United States Attorney Austin M. Berry is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
