U.S. Attorney’s Office September 09, 2011
  • Western District of Texas (210) 384-7100

United States Attorney John E. Murphy announced that in Midland this morning, 32-year-old Thomas Alexander Byrne was sentenced to 210 months in federal prison followed by 35 years of supervised release for distribution of child pornography.

On May 18, 2011, Byrne pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of child pornography. On February 18, 2009, during a search of the defendant’s residence, FBI agents seized a desktop computer and an external hard drive which were located inside the crawl space of the attic in the defendant’s home. A forensic examination of the confiscated materials reveled the presence of approximately 849 images and 385 videos depicting child pornography which Byrne admitted to distributing to others via the internet.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Brandi Young prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
