Ramon Rodriguez was arrested late Monday afternoon, July 26, 2010, for bank robbery. Rodriguez, of the 7200 block of Canyon Run, El Paso, Texas, turned himself in to agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for the recent Bank of America robbery.

On July 20, 2010, the Bank of America, 5004 Montana, El Paso, Texas, was robbed shortly after 4 p.m. The subject was referred to as the DG Bandit because of his choice of sunglasses that he wore during the robbery. This was the city’s 12th bank robbery of the year.

“We appreciate Clear Channel’s display of this bank robber on their digital billboards throughout the city because we believe it made the difference in the surrender of this robber,” said Special Agent in Charge David Cuthbertson. “Numerous people saw the image on the billboard and contacted us with tips.” The FBI and Clear Channel Outdoors regularly partner to show fugitives and other criminal suspects on digital billboards throughout El Paso. Clear Channel does this as a public service for law enforcement.

Rodriguez, who is unemployed, will have his initial appearance before US Magistrate Judge Norbert Garney this afternoon. Rodriguez is charged with one count of bank robbery, 18 U.S.C. 2113(a).

This case was worked by the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force, which includes the El Paso Police Department and El Paso Sheriff’s Department.
