Midland Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Receipt of Child Porn

U.S. Attorney’s Office April 03, 2009
  • Western District of Texas (210) 384-7100

United States Attorney Johnny Sutton announced that in Midland this morning, James Alan Bucknell was sentenced to 168 months in federal prison followed by 30 years of supervised release after pleading guilty last December to receiving child pornography. In addition, United States District Judge Robert Junell ordered that Bucknell pay a $10,000 fine.

By pleading guilty, Bucknell admitted that he knowingly received an email, which contained a series of images of an infant. In several of the images, the infant’s genitalia were depicted in a sexually explicit manner.

Bucknell came to the attention of law enforcement by virtue of an FBI investigation into another child pornography purveyor in Kansas City who had received child pornography from an individual in Atlanta. In October 2008, FBI agents executed a search warrant at the defendant’s residence and seized his computer along with numerous CD’s and DVD’s. A forensic examination of the seized items revealed the presence of more than 6,000 images of child pornography.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Kerry Fleck prosecuted this case on behalf of the Government.
