Henderson County Man Sentenced for Dealing Methamphetamine

TYLER, TX—U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 30-year-old Brownsboro, Texas man has been sentenced to federal prison for federal drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
JAMES EDWIN THORNTON pleaded guilty on Nov. 16, 2009, to possession with intent to distribute and distribution of methamphetamine and was sentenced to 84 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Leonard E. Davis.
According to information presented in court, Thornton was arrested in August 2009 and found to be in possession of methamphetamine which he intended to distribute in Van Zandt County, Texas. A federal grand jury returned an indictment that same month charging Thornton with federal drug trafficking crimes.
This case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Middleton.
