Oklahoma Man Sentenced for Sexual Exploitation of East Texas Child

PLANO, TX—U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 40-year-old Bethany, Oklahoma man has been sentenced to federal prison for a child exploitation violation in the Eastern District of Texas.

DON DWAYNE McADAMS pleaded guilty on Oct. 13, 2009, to transportation of a minor in interstate commerce and was sentenced to 127 months in federal prison on Feb. 18, 2010, by U.S. District Judge Richard Schell. McAdams will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

According to information presented in court, McAdams made contact with a minor over the Internet. On May 3, 2008, McAdams picked up the minor near her home in East Texas and took her to his home in Bethany, Oklahoma. McAdams had sexual intercourse with the minor before bringing her back to Texas and leaving her stranded 100 miles away from her home. McAdams was indicted by a federal grand jury on April 8, 2009.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
