Walterboro Man Indicted for Four Bank Robberies

COLUMBIA, SCUnited States Attorney Bill Nettles stated today that Sean Saxby, age 39, of Walterboro, South Carolina, was charged in a four-count Indictment with bank robbery, a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2113. He is charged with robbing the First Citizens Bank in St. George on June 25, 2010, the Wachovia Bank on Sam Rittenberg Blvd. on June 26, 2010, and the Carolina First Bank on Orleans Road on June 29, 2010. He is also charged with attempting to rob the Bank of America on Sam Rittenberg Blvd. on June 26, 2010.

Bill Nettles stated the maximum penalty Sean Saxby could receive for each offense is a fine of $250,000 and/or imprisonment of 20 years.

Mr. Nettles stated that the case was investigated by agents of the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, Charleston Police Department, Saint George Police Department and FBI and that he has assigned the case to Assistant United States Attorney Alston Badger of the Charleston office for prosecution.

The United States Attorney stated that all charges in this Indictment are merely accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
