Columbia Man Charged with Gun/Drug Offense

COLUMBIA, SC—United States Attorney Williams N. Nettles stated today that David Damond Johnson, age 21, of Columbia, SC, was charged in a two-count indictment with possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, a violation of Title 18 , United States Code, Section 924(c)(1), and Title 21, United States Code, Section 841.

William N. Nettles stated the maximum penalty Johnson could receive is a fine of $250,000 and/or imprisonment of 25 years to life.

Mr. Nettles stated that the case was investigated by agents of the FBI and that he has assigned the case to Assistant United States Attorney Mark C. Moore of the Columbia office for prosecution.

The United States Attorney stated that all charges in this indictment are merely accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
