Greer Man Charged with Child Pornography Offense

Columbia, South Carolina—United States Attorney W. WALTER WILKINS stated today that JAMES EDWIN WRIGHT, JR., age 49, of Greer, South Carolina, was charged in a one count Indictment with possession of child pornography, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2252A(a)(5)(B).

The maximum penalty WRIGHT could receive is a fine of $250,000.00 and/or imprisonment for 10 years.

Mr. Wilkins stated that the case was investigated by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and that he has assigned the case to Assistant United States Attorney David C. Stephens of the Greenville office for prosecution.

The United States Attorney stated that all charges in this Indictment are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
