U.S. Attorney’s Office August 16, 2011
  • Northern District of Ohio (216) 622-3600

Jae Seung Lee, age 43, of Dublin, Ohio, was sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment following his conviction by guilty plea to one count of conspiracy to distribute hydrocodone, Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.

Lee, a pharmacist who practiced in the Dublin area, answered a fax solicitation to fill prescriptions for orders placed over the Internet, according to court documents. He then supplied approximately 279,660 tablets of hydrocodone for Internet orders, most of which involved “patients” whose prescribing doctors were outside their state.

“Prescription drug abuse is escalating, and today’s sentence reflects our continuing commitment to bringing to justice those involved in the illegal distribution of those drugs,” Dettelbach said.

The prosecution is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael L. Collyer.
