Akron Resident Charged with Armed Bank Robbery

An information was filed against Parker Breckenridge, age 36, of Akron, Ohio, for five counts of armed bank robbery and one count of using, carrying, or possessing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, said Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.

The incidents occurred between April 21, 2011 and May 12, 2011. Several of the bank robberies occurred in the Akron area, as well as one in Barberton and Norton, according to the information.

Breckenridge was identified as the bank robbery suspect from bank surveillance photos and witnesses at the banks. Norton Police Department responded and apprehended Breckenridge shortly after fleeing one of the banks in a vehicle. Breckenridge admitted to the crimes.

The information resulted from an investigation conducted by the Norton Police Department, Barberton Police Department, Akron Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was prosecuted by Linda H. Barr.
