Law Enforcement Releases Composite Sketch of Buckeye Bandit Bank Robber

COLUMBUS—The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), and the Columbus Police Department today released a composite sketch of a man wanted in connection with the July 9, 2014 robbery of the SMART Federal Credit Union (3454 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio). The law enforcement agencies are seeking the public’s assistance to help identify the bank robbery suspect branded the Buckeye Bandit, alleged to be involved in several Columbus-area bank robberies.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest, and conviction of this bank robbery suspect. Additional monetary rewards from the private sector may also be available. Anyone with information on these robberies is requested to call the Buckeye Bandit Tip Line at (614) 849-1896.

The suspect is described as a black male approximately 25-30 years of age. He is believed to be approximately 5’11” to 6’0” tall, 170-185 pounds, with an athletic build. During a number of the robberies, the suspect was wearing an Ohio State shirt and hat which led to the moniker Buckeye Bandit.

The unidentified robbery suspect is considered armed and dangerous. He has displayed a black handgun during the robberies.
