Local Doctor Receives FBI Award

Keith L. Bennett, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Cincinnati Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today that Dr. Creighton Wright has been named as the recipient of the 2009 FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award for the Cincinnati Division.

Dr. Creighton Wright is a surgeon, teacher, volunteer and community leader who has been an active supporter of local law enforcement agencies and the FBI. He is a 2007 graduate of the FBI Citizens’ Academy and an active member of the Cincinnati Citizens Police Association (CCPA), a group of community and business leaders who partner with law enforcement agencies to help make Cincinnati a safer place in which to live and work.

Dr. Wright and the members of the CCPA have worked to raise funds for important organizations like The Shield, a local non-profit group dedicated to providing immediate resources and financial support to families of law enforcement officers killed or seriously injured in the line of duty. Dr. Wright is also a strong supporter of the FBI Citizens’ Academy Foundation of Cincinnati, working to further strengthen the partnership among the CCPA, the Foundation and the FBI.

As a leader in the community, Dr. Wright has been an active member of the Covington Fraternal Order of Police Associates and a part of the original Citizens on Patrol team. In addition, he has also been named a Kenton County Sheriff’s Special Deputy to assist with emergency management.

Dr. Wright is currently the President and Director of Cardiac, Vascular and Thoracic Surgeons, Inc. in Cincinnati. He previously served in the U.S Army and the U.S. Army Reserves, earning the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service during Operation Desert Storm. In addition, he has served as the Chief of Staff and Acting Director for the Veterans’ Administration (VA) Medical Center in Cincinnati and the Associate Dean of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

SAC Bennett presented Dr. Wright with the Director’s Community Leadership Award today at a meeting of the Cincinnati Citizens Police Association where he commended Dr. Wright for his support of law enforcement and his leadership in working to improve our community.
