Reward Offered for Information in College Hill Shooting

FBI Cincinnati March 26, 2009
  • Public Affairs Specialist Todd Lindgren (513) 979-8347

Keith L. Bennett, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Cincinnati Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today that the FBI is offering a $20,000 reward for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in the March 25, 2009 shooting at Pasadena Avenue where assailants fired multiple rounds into the car of an FBI agent.

The FBI and the Cincinnati Police are investigating this shooting. Investigation at the scene and information to date has revealed that at approximately 5:00 p.m. on March 25 a grey or silver late model small sedan, possibly a Dodge Neon, containing up to four black males was driving east on Pasadena Avenue towards Hamilton Avenue. An on-duty FBI agent was seated in the driver’s seat of an FBI vehicle which was parked on the north side of Pasadena facing west. Within seconds of the subject vehicle passing the agent heard shots and took a protective position in the car. Over 25 shell casings were recovered at the scene from at least two different weapons, one of which was a military style assault weapon. Initial forensics examination of the FBI vehicle reveal at least 15 rounds struck the car. Several rounds penetrated the passenger compartment but none struck the agent. The agent suffered minor scratches to his head, probably from flying debris. The agent did not fire. The agent was treated and released from Mercy Hospital. At least one other vehicle and two homes to the west of the FBI vehicle were struck by bullets. No other person was injured in the shooting.

SAC Bennett notes the savage nature of this attack and the complete disregard the subjects had for the safety of all persons in the area of the shooting. Aiken High School is just west of the shooting scene directly in the line of fire. SAC Bennett stated, “It is absolutely imperative that these individuals be apprehended and brought to justice because they have no concern for the safety of anyone.” The motive for this shooting is still under investigation.

The Cincinnati Police have conducted forensics analysis at the scene and continue to analyze evidence that was recovered. SAC Bennett noted the hard work of the CPD personnel who responded to the scene as well as of the agents and officers who have been working through the night and today on this investigation.

Anyone who has any information concerning this shooting is urged to call the FBI at 513 421-4310 or Crimestoppers at 513 352-3040. Information may be provided to Crimestoppers anonymously.
