CHICAGO—The FBI is asking for assistance from the public in identifying and locating a bank robber suspected of carrying out three recent heists on Chicago’s west side. Robert J. Holley, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago office of the FBI, announced today that a reward is being offered for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the robber dubbed the “Bandage Bandit.”

The robber earned his moniker by wearing a large gauze bandage on his face during two of the robberies. The Bandage Bandit first struck on March 31, 2015, at the PNC Bank branch located at 2154 West Madison Street in Chicago. At approximately 9:45 a.m. on that day, a robber entered the bank, approached a bank employee and made a threatening demand for money.

On April 6, a robber matching the description of the individual from the prior robbery and operating in a similar manner entered the Chase Bank branch location at 3101 West Cermak Road in Chicago at 9:13 a.m. The latest robbery the Bandage Bandit is suspected of committing occurred yesterday at the PNC Bank branch located at 3337 West North Avenue at 10:46 a.m. To date, there have been no physical injuries reported in connection with the robberies.

The Bandage Bandit is described by witnesses as a male, black, six feet tall, 45-49 years old with a medium build and dark complexion. He has been seen wearing a red or black jacket with blue jeans, white shoes, a black knit cap, sunglasses and a gauze bandage on the left side of his face. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone recognizing the Bandage Bandit or having information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Chicago office of the FBI at (312) 421-6700 or local police. This case is being investigated by the FBI in coordination with local authorities.
