Robberies of TCF Bank Branches in Westchester and Schaumburg

U.S. Attorney’s Office July 16, 2012

FBI agents responded to a bank robbery that occurred yesterday at approximately 11 a.m. at the TCF Bank branch located at 2128 South Mannheim, Westchester, Illinois. The robber was described by witnesses as a black male in his mid-20s wearing a dark shirt and a tan baseball cap. He approached a teller and presented a demand note. The robber implied he had a weapon but did not display one during the course of the robbery, and there were no injuries reported. Witnesses said that the robber was accompanied by a second individual described as a male wearing a grey sweatshirt and pants and a blue baseball cap.

The same robber is believed to have struck a second time yesterday. The TCF Bank branch at 2501 Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg, Illinois, was robbed at approximately 2:00 p.m. by an individual matching the description of the robber from Westchester. The robber again presented a note and implied that he had a weapon.

At both locations, the robber fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
