Chicago Bank Robbery Arrest

FBI Chicago October 05, 2011
  • Special Agent Garrett Croon (312) 829-1199

AN 53—year old Arlington Heights man has been arrested and charged with the September 29 robbery of the TCF Bank branch, located at 1415 Algonquin Road in Rolling Meadows.

ALEXANDER STOVER, whose last known address was 315 Salem Avenue in the northwest suburb, was charged in a criminal complaint filed Sunday in U.S. District Court in Chicago with one count of bank robbery, which is a felony offense.

STOVER was arrested without incident on September 30 at the Arlington Heights residence, which he shared with a friend. The arrest was made by officers from the Arlington Heights Police Department, who recognized STOVER in bank surveillance photos of the robbery and went to the residence to investigate.

STOVER appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Susan E. Cox on Sunday, at which time he was formally charged. He was ordered held without bond, pending his next court appearance which is scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday) at 11:00 a.m..

If convicted of the charge pending against him, STOVER faces a possible sentence of up to 20 years’ incarceration.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
