Reward Offered in Search for Suburban Bank Robber

FBI Chicago March 24, 2010
  • Special Agent Garrett Croon (312) 829-1199

Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced today that a reward of up to $10,000 was being offered for information leading to the arrest of the remaining suspect wanted for the December 22, 2009 armed take-over robbery of the First Midwest Bank, located in south suburban Country Club Hills, Illinois.

COREY FRIERSON, age 25, whose last known address was 5131 Riverside Drive in Richton Park, Illinois, has been the subject of a nationwide manhunt, coordinated by the Chicago FBI, since February 5th of this year, when he was charged in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago with one count of bank robbery.

According to the complaint, FRIERSON is one of three men who committed the robbery, with FRIERSON identified as the leader of the robbery gang. FRIERSON is alleged to have recruited the two other robbers, both of whom are in custody, and devised the plan for the robbery. He also is alleged to have supplied the two Uzi style assault weapons that were used during the robbery.

COREY FRIERSON, who is also known as “Kid,” is described as a black/male, 25 years of age, 6’ 0” tall, 200 pounds. He is light skinned with freckles and is known to wear his hair in dreadlocks. Given the fact that he was armed with an assault weapon during the commission of this robbery, he should be considered armed and dangerous.

In announcing this reward offer, Mr. Grant noted the danger that FRIERSON poses to the public. “This man was armed with an automatic assault weapon, which he freely brandished during the take-over robbery of a bank that was filled with customers. I am confident that a member of the public will come forward with information which will lead to the arrest of this dangerous offender.”

This robbery was investigated jointly by the FBI and Country Club Hills Police Department (CHPD). Anyone recognizing FRIERSON or having any information regarding his current whereabouts is asked to call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700 or the CHPD at (708) 798-3191.

Additional information about this case and other unsolved Chicago area bank robberies, including downloadable photographs, is available on-line at the Bandit Tracker website, www.bandittrackerchicago.com.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
